Aquinas offers a free consultation call with our office staff to discuss your child’s tuition objectives, specific learning requirements including any Special Educational Needs (SEN), and what you are looking for in a tutor. Following this, we will contact our tuition team to review availability and share with you a range of tutor profiles we feel would be a good match for your child’s tuition requirements. Once you have decided on a tutor, you will be able to view their calendar availability and book in an introductory lesson.
Our introductory lessons include 3 key components. Firstly, the tutor will spend time getting to know your child and their learning style so we can ensure all lessons are purposeful and engaging. They will also discuss tuition objectives with your child in order to develop a bespoke learning plan tailored to your child’s specific needs. Finally, they will carry out a short diagnostic assessment to ascertain strengths alongside key areas of improvement.
Following the introductory lesson the tutor will produce a Personalised Learning Plan (PLP) which will be shared with you and your child to review. If you are happy with the PLP and wish to continue with the tutor, you can access the tutor’s calendar and book in sessions.
Once the PLP has been agreed, your child will be sent a link to their Google Classroom which will hold all of their lesson materials and supporting resources. Each lesson will be conducted over Google Meet and your child should be logged into their Google Classroom during the lesson in order to access teaching resources.
Each session will include teaching of core content, as determined by the PLP, and will be followed by an end-of-lesson review to ensure your child feels confident in what has been covered and to help us assess priorities for the next session. This will be documented in the PLP at the end of each lesson.
After your child’s second tuition session with us, we will contact you to ensure that your child is having a productive and enjoyable experience and to discuss whether any amendments to the PLP are required.
In addition to this, Aquinas also issues Monthly Progress Reports. These will be written by your child’s tutor and will provide an overview of your child’s progress to date and “next-steps” suggestions. Alongside keeping you updated, these reports are designed to be positive assessments of your child’s achievements so far. The Monthly Reports will be sent to you directly and a copy will also be uploaded to your child’s Google Classroom.
If your child would like their tutor to provide marking support for past papers, essays or assignments, please contact us for details on our marking pricing structure. Please be aware that our tutors cannot offer marking support or feedback on coursework assignments for examination boards.
All tutors at Aquinas have been appointed following a rigorous application and interview process to ensure they are of the highest calibre. They are subject experts with comprehensive knowledge of the English and Scottish education systems, and they are, quite simply, excellent teachers.
But tuition at Aquinas is not just about what happens in the lesson, you also receive:
Investing in private tuition is an investment in your child’s future and can offer far more than helping your child to achieve excellent examination grades. At Aquinas, our priority is also to nurture your child’s curiosity, encourage critical thinking skills and develop independent minds. We want to help your child build the confidence and ambition they need to thrive.

Yes – once you have confirmed that you would like to go ahead with your tutor of choice, you will gain access to the tutor’s calendar. You will be able to view their availability week-by-week and book sessions well in advance if you wish to.
If you are unsure which tutor you would like to appoint following a review of our suggested tutor profiles, our tutors would be happy to arrange a telephone call with you before a final decision is made and the introductory lesson is booked. Please contact us at info@aquinastuition.co.uk if you would like to set up preliminary calls with various tutors.
We are happy to update and adapt the PLP as per your request. We ask that update requests are made within 3 working days of the next lesson so that tutors are able to prepare relevant materials.
We understand that schedule clashes are sometimes unavoidable. Lessons may be rescheduled without charge where at least 48 hours’ notice is given.
If you need to reschedule or cancel a lesson with less than 48 hours’ notice, please contact your tutor directly. The full lesson fee will normally apply, although your tutor may be able to offer an alternative session where circumstances are outside your control.
If you cancel a lesson with at least 48 hours’ notice, you will receive a full refund, less a £2 administration fee.
